10 Healthy Credit Tips

  • Don't charge what you can't afford--even if it looks really good on you.
  • Pay bills on time to build a good credit history and avoid those nasty late fees.
  • Set a monthly spending limit & stick to it!
  • Shop around for the best credit card terms--pick the card that meets your individual needs.
  • Don't blindly click "I Accept" when it comes to reviewing the terms of your credit card agreement. Be sure to read and fully understand or comprehend the terms and conditions whenever you apply for a credit card.
  • Take advantage of the text and email alerts offered by your credit card issuer to stay on top of your payments.
  • If you charge your day-to-day expenses, pay them in full every month. You don't want to be paying interest on the coffee you bought to pull that all nighter.
  • Keep credit card information in a safe place and store the customer service number on the back of your card in your phone, just in case your card is lost or stolen.
  • Sign up to manage your account online. This way you can routinely monitor charges made to your card. If you catch a mistake, call your issuer right away to have the error fixed.
  • Stash a little money away from each payday or birthday for emergencies, just in case.
